Re: FSCK Fails

I have to agree.....  I live in the mountains and if the sun shines  
the wrong way I lose my power and as a result NOTHING that is of  
remote importance is without a UPS.  A lot of people will spend $20 on  
a decent surge strip when they could find a UPS for just a little  
more.  Also, when I was working at the computer store dealing with end  
users I can't tell you how many "lightning strikes" happened to  
computers on surge strips... the reality is that you are *FAR* more  
likely to have a component die from a brown out than a surge.  What is  
interesting is that there are times that I'll hear my UPSs all beep  
and not notice a single light dim indicating that the power had  
dropped to a dangerous level without me otherwise realizing it.  Even  
if you have a UPS system that would only run your equipment for 30  
seconds you are MUCH better off since when the power goes out it is  
cut (basically it's either on at 120v or its off).
