I think the instructions on the web site are probably misleading.
Perhaps it is necessary for you to boot from the cdrom to follow
them.

Normally one should not need to boot from a CD to upgrade an existing
GNU/Linux installation (at least Debian/Ubuntu). As Arun Khan has
pointed out you can just use the upgrade option for the update tool.

However, if you have taken the trouble to download and burn the CD then
you may want to use this approach. Boot from the CD and then follow
the instructions on the web site.
