1. Which movie player are you using?
2. What movie format are you trying to play?
3. What is your system configuration, especially the graphic card?

In the meantime, install VLC player.

Please give answer to these questions. I have been using Ubuntu for quite a while and its something that
gives me almost anything -- like a Kamdhenu....so don't worry, just let me know the specs
