I once came across similar problem where 320 GB was at stake, I installed Testdisk and it restored the
partition table and thus saved my data.
Install Ubuntu on available space without touching the partition where rest of the data lies, then install
testdisk and follow simple instructions...
You may give it a try.
But, be careful...
