lenova notebooks

hi,

my laptop is dying and I need a new one. I am informed that lenova  
thinkpads work out of the box with linux and was looking at the R  
series. Am a little confused - the cheapest R series seems to have  
more features than the more expensive ones? I am a little confused.  
Can someone clarify?
