Hmm, that's what I'm using too.

Odd, I didn't see anything like that, but Ghostscript has its own font
rendering code which doesn't depend on X.

Still odd and shouldn't happen. Do other window managers produce similar
effects? Does the console show anything remotely similar ( or anything
wrong ) ?
