Max.number of characters in username

  Hello,
  OS = V5.1A
  AFS client SW installed.Not using C2 security.

  I have a username in AFS with 13 characters. Can I use
  this username in tru64? What is the  maximum number of
  characters allowed for a username(8)?
  Iam having problems with 13 characters.
