carfree homeowners

Hi Brian,

You're not alone out there. I am carfree and I own
part of a house... does that count? Even so, I can
identify with you... I have carried lumber, sheetrock,
paint, sacks of cement and more on my bike.

I feel good when I do this stuff but it isn't
convenient or sometimes easy to do. When carrying
heavy or bulky stuff, it is much easier and more
convenient to do it in a car. In fact, this is one of
the few times when I feel that cars are appropriate-
for moving heavy stuff.

But, in the carfree design, we can have that same
mobility of heavy and bulky objects without cars...
cargo bikes, hydraulic carts, small electric carts and
trucks- if we have a chance to set up a carfree area,
and we do it with that in mind, it will take away one
of the biggest needs of the car, in my opinion.

WBut, to me that's not the point...
