My first ride in a saab was when I got a lift to my Bowdoin dorm after putting my '51 Ford into a ditch in a snow storm was from a guy in a 93. This was in 1956 or 1957. Took almost 40 years before I got around to buying one! > > galanti Being not far from the New Haven import center, Wallingford would have good reason to have a strong SAAB presence. My grandfather had a '51 Ford Tudor with the flathead-6. My father got a job in Yakima and came out here in early '60 to work, while my mom, sisters and I were still in Maryland. My grandfather died in the spring that year, before the rest of the family got here. My dad drove the Ford for the 1-1/2 years we lived in Yakima. Went back to Maryland in January '62, but to a different school district, so my older sister went to three differnt high schools, two of them in her senior year. She's the one who has owned five SAABs in 36 years. We sold the Ford to a neighbor of my Grandmother's, in Deer Park, north of Spokane. I wonder if it's still around somewhere. The first introduction of a SAAB to our family was a 93 that was owned by a guy my sister dated for a short time. I don't know where he grew up but he worked for Army Intelligence.
