Description:

The Department of Foreign Languages at Bridgewater State College seeks an
Assistant/Associate Professor of Spanish Language Education, Tenure-Track
Position to begin Fall 2009.

Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate Spanish language as
well as courses required for the Secondary Education Minor (5-12)
certification in Massachusetts. The teacher preparation program consists of
a methods instruction course and supervision of student teachers in
collaboration with the School of Education and Allied Studies. Other
responsibilities include advising students, service to college community
and an active research agenda.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

1) An earned PhD in Spanish Language Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition,
Foreign Language Teaching or Spanish Applied Linguistics, or closely
related field, by time of appointment; 2) teaching experience at the
college or secondary school level; 3) familiarity with ACTFL standards; 4)
native or near native fluency in Spanish; 5) certification or ability to
obtain certification to teach at the secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with NCATE; experience supervising student-teachers or teaching
assistants; training in oral proficiency testing.

in teaching and learning, the ability to work collaboratively, evidence of
scholarly activity, and a commitment to public higher education.
