Uhmmm, I'm probably missing something but ...
this is what I get from my box:

krsna:~# apt-get update
Get:1 http://http.us.debian.org sid Release.gpg [189B]
Hit http://http.us.debian.org sid Release
Hit http://http.us.debian.org sid/main Packages
Hit http://http.us.debian.org sid/contrib Packages
Hit http://http.us.debian.org sid/non-free Packages
Fetched 1B in 1s (1B/s)
Reading package lists... Done
krsna:~# apt-get install libreadline4
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Package libreadline4 is not available, but is referred to by another
package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
  readline-common
E: Package libreadline4 has no installation candidate
krsna:~#

	Any idea?
